Jannata Resort & Spa Ubud
If you are dreaming of a Bali getaway surrounded by lush jungle, peaceful valley views, private pools and a little bit of romance, I have a resort to add to your list: Jannata Resort & Spa in Ubud, Bali.
My husband and I stayed at Jannata last year, and there is a pretty special reason this resort holds such a place in my heart — we eloped here!
So, rather than giving you a typical hotel overview, I wanted to share what our experience was actually like, what I loved about the resort, the room we stayed in, the activities and amenities available, and one very important thing you should know before booking.

Jannata Resort & Spa is a small boutique resort tucked into the lush greenery just outside of central Ubud.
It has just 25 accommodations, which gives the resort a much more intimate feeling than some of the larger properties you'll find throughout Bali. The accommodation options include:

The resort is built into the natural landscape, with beautiful jungle and valley views throughout the property. And when I say jungle views, I mean it!
One of my favourite things about Jannata was how peaceful it felt. Rather than feeling like you were staying in a busy hotel, it felt like we had escaped into our own little corner of Bali.
And that was exactly what we wanted.
Our Pool Villa
We stayed in one of Jannata's One-Bedroom Pool Villas, and this was definitely one of the highlights of our stay.
The villas are designed with a very romantic Bali feel, and having our own private pool made the experience feel extra special.
There was something so relaxing about being able to step outside and have our own private space surrounded by greenery. It was exactly the type of room I had pictured when I imagined staying in Ubud.
The One-Bedroom Pool Villas are approximately 110 square metres and feature a private pool, terrace, king bedroom and a spacious bathroom with a marble bathtub.
If you're travelling to Bali for a honeymoon, anniversary or romantic getaway, I would absolutely consider upgrading to a pool villa if your budget allows.
One VERY Important Thing to Know: Jannata Is Not Accessible
I want to make a point of including this because I don't think it is something travellers should overlook.
Jannata is not a mobility-friendly resort.
The property is built into the hillside, and there are stairs throughout the resort. The pool villas are located on a lower level, meaning there can be quite a few stairs between your room and other areas of the property.
If you have mobility issues, difficulty with stairs or are travelling with someone who cannot comfortably navigate a lot of steps, this would not be the resort I would recommend for you.
The resort itself also advises guests to anticipate stairs when accessing certain room locations.
This is one of those things that may not be obvious from the beautiful photographs online, so I wanted to make sure I mentioned it.
The stairs and hillside setting are part of what gives Jannata its incredible jungle atmosphere, but they also mean that accessibility is limited.
Dining at Jannata
Jannata has one main restaurant, Amateras, which is located on the property and offers beautiful jungle and valley surroundings.
The restaurant serves Indonesian, Asian and international cuisine, so there is a good variety for different tastes.
And this isn't just a restaurant where you go for breakfast and dinner.
Jannata has several really fun dining experiences available, including:
Afternoon tea
Romantic candlelit dinners
Dinner under the stars
Poolside dining
Floating breakfast
Jungle Cinema
One of the experiences that really stood out to me was the afternoon tea. Sitting surrounded by all that greenery makes something as simple as having tea and treats feel like an experience.
And if you're travelling as a couple, there are plenty of opportunities to make dinner feel extra romantic.
Spa & Wellness
If you're visiting Ubud, chances are relaxation is at least somewhere on your list.
Jannata's Champaka Spa is a beautiful little wellness space overlooking the tropical valley. The spa has three private treatment rooms and offers a variety of Balinese-inspired treatments.
And then there's the Yoga Shala.
The open-air yoga space overlooking the jungle is exactly what you picture when you think of doing yoga in Bali.
Even if you're not normally a yoga person, there's something about being surrounded by the sounds of nature that makes you want to slow down and enjoy it.
If you're looking for a resort where you can spend a few days doing very little other than swimming, relaxing, getting a massage and enjoying the scenery, Jannata does that really well.
Entertainment & Balinese Culture
Jannata isn't the type of resort where you'll find a huge entertainment schedule, nightly parties or a lineup of activities from morning until night.
And honestly, that's part of the appeal.
The entertainment is much more focused on experiences and Balinese culture.
One of the experiences available at the resort is a Balinese Cultural Dinner, which features traditional Balinese dance performances.
The resort also offers experiences such as afternoon tea, romantic dinners and other special dining events.
During our stay, I really enjoyed that the entertainment didn't take away from the peaceful atmosphere. You could participate in something special when you wanted to, but you could also simply sit back and enjoy the jungle surroundings.
The Wedding… Because Yes, We Eloped Here!
Okay, now for my favourite part.
We eloped at Jannata Resort & Spa.
And I honestly can't imagine a better setting for it.
The resort has several beautiful areas that can be used for intimate wedding ceremonies, including its Infinity Pond area and jungle surroundings.
Jannata specifically caters to intimate weddings, proposals and elopements, so this isn't an afterthought at the resort. They have a wedding team and packages designed to make the entire experience much easier for couples.
And this was especially important to us because we didn't want to spend months planning every tiny detail of a wedding.
We wanted to show up, get married and enjoy the experience.
And our package made that possible.
Our elopement package included things like:
Wedding flowers and ceremony décor
Bridal bouquet and groom's boutonniere
Photography
Hair and makeup
Ceremony services
Sound equipment
Wedding coordination
A romantic dinner
…and other details that made the day feel like a real wedding without us having to organize everything ourselves.
That was one of the biggest reasons I loved the experience.
I didn't have to find a photographer in a country I'd never visited before.
I didn't have to figure out where to get my hair and makeup done.
I didn't have to source flowers.
I didn't have to figure out ceremony décor.
It was all organized for us.
And when you're planning an elopement from the other side of the world, that is huge.
Our wedding day was intimate, beautiful and incredibly peaceful.
There wasn't a huge crowd.
There wasn't a giant ballroom.
There wasn't a long list of things that had to happen.
It was just the two of us, surrounded by the incredible scenery of Bali.
And that's what I loved most.
The jungle, the greenery and the peaceful atmosphere became part of the wedding itself.
It felt incredibly personal.
Who Would I Recommend Jannata To?
After staying here myself, I would particularly recommend Jannata for:
Couples
Elopements and intimate weddings
Honeymoons
Anniversaries
Wellness getaways
Travellers who love being surrounded by nature
Anyone wanting a private pool villa
If you're looking for a large resort with tons of restaurants, nightlife and activities, this probably isn't the property for you.
But if you want somewhere quiet, romantic and surrounded by nature, Jannata is a completely different experience.
My Final Thoughts
Jannata Resort & Spa was one of those places that I'll remember for a very long time — not just because it was beautiful, but because of what it means to us.
We travelled all the way to Bali and chose this little jungle resort outside Ubud as the place where we would get married.
And looking back, I think it was the perfect choice for us.
The private pool villa, the jungle views, the peaceful atmosphere, the spa, the beautiful dining experiences and, of course, our wedding day all came together to make it a very special part of our Bali trip.
There are a few things I would want travellers to know before booking — especially the amount of stairs and the limited accessibility — but if those aren't concerns for you, I think Jannata is a beautiful option for couples looking for something romantic and a little bit different in Ubud.
And if you're considering a Bali elopement?
Well…
I might be a little biased, but I can't think of many more beautiful places to say “I do.”
